BIO 251 Clinical Pharmacology 4 Credits
Discusses the essential concepts of clinical pharmacology and their application to safe medication administration in medical practice. Drug actions, therapeutic uses, and key adverse effects of major drug categories are examined. Knowledge of the essential concepts of clinical pharmacology and their application to medical practice is the foundation for this course. This course is designed to enhance the students’ ability to provide care and educate patients; it builds upon their understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and the medical process. The major drug categories are discussed with an emphasis on their actions, therapeutic use, interactions, and key adverse effects. Medical responsibilities and accountability related to safe medication administration across the life span are emphasized.
