Description

EDB121 Culturally Responsive Teaching in Classroom Environment
Provides participants with an understanding of the nature and role of culture and identity and its intersection with teaching and learning. Participants will develop an awareness of cultural, racial, ethnic, and linguistic identities as well as concepts of equity, diversity, social justice, and inclusion. They will explore their own personal biases and culturally responsive teaching practices. They will focus on approaches to teaching and learning that consider the following: developmental and grade appropriateness, valuing students and the assets they bring to the classroom, connecting students' life experiences with what they are learning in the classroom, and how these approaches raise expectations and make learning relevant for all students.
