EMS 215 Paramedic Clinical Preceptorship and Field Internship I 3 Credits
This faculty directed practicum provides the opportunity for each student to develop competency in clinical skills within the hospital and pre-hospital setting. Clinical rotations occur in cardiac care units, newborn nurseries, labor and delivery, post-anethesia units, one-day surgery, geriatrics, respiratory, cardiology, emergency room, operating room, and others. The pre-hospital rotation allows students to assume the role of the EMT-Paramedic in order to perfect clinical and assessment skills. During this rotation, the student will primarily observe and assist the precepting paramedics. The student works under the direction of an experienced EMT-P. (138 clinical hours) Pre-requisites: EMS 201, EMS 202, EMS 205, EMS 206, currently licensed EMT-Intermediate, successful completion of all NEEMS required preadmission testing, and advisor approval; pre- or co-requisites: EMS208 and EMS 209
